My name is Reita Swinney. My husband and I retired from a very busy life in Dallas to the everlasting hills of Oklahoma in 2000. Our children are grown, leaving us more time to devote to our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, both at home and in the show ring.

Reita and CH. Crystalridge Mr. Cooper
Since the 16 th century, these little spaniels have been pets of royalty in England. They are known for their sweet smiling faces, the matching sweet personality, and their constantly wagging tail. They are an inside dog and love to be near people. They stand 12-13 inches at the shoulder and weigh 13-18 pounds, with some variation accepted. Cavaliers are called “wash and wear” spaniels because they require very little grooming. They are considered a “toy” and can be found in the Toy Group of the American Kennel Club. There are 4 colors: the ever popular Chestnut Red and White (called “Blenheim”), the Tri-color (Black and White with Tan points), Black and Tan, and Ruby (solid Chestnut Red). We were first drawn to the Whole Colors (Black/Tan and Ruby) because they are rare and seldom seen in the show ring yet are amazingly beautiful. However, we have come to adore all 4 colors. Each has its own beauty and all have the hallmark Cavalier spirit and sweetness. As you scroll down our Home Page, you will see examples of all 4 colors.
Meet Bogie, AKC Ch. Loranka’s Desert Flame. Bogie is a very good example of the rich Ruby colored Cavalier. He came to us from Wales, UK.
Bogie has the perfect Cavalier head, muzzle, ear set, dreamy round eyes, amazing long, long coat, along with the melting facial expression that will steal your heart!
Here is Ch. Crystalridge’s Cruisin Rackler owned by Cindi Rackler of Cruisin Cavaliers. Cruiser won his championship in just four short months which is wonderful for a whole color. Cruiser is a good example of a black and tan colored Cavalier.
Here is Ch. Mayfield Goodnight Gracie, born here at Crystal Ridge to Ch. Turretbank Pearl Tiara and sired by the famous “Ch. Grantilley As Good As It Gets, ROM.” Gracie is a beautiful example of the Blenheim Cavalier and was shown to her championship in Feb., 2008, by her owner/handler, Toni Curtis of Greeley, CO.
Some puppies become Champions. All are adored pets. This is our sweet Missy, a good example of the tri-color Cavalier. Missy lives here with us at Crystalridge and is co-owned with Marilyn Mayfield.
All our dogs are dual registered with both AKC (American Kennel Club) and CKCSC/USA (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club/USA). Our bloodlines are excellent, which may not seem important if you are simply wanting a family pet. However, even for the family pet, it is very important to know the bloodlines that have been established and proven for quality, health, and temperament.
All of the dogs in our breeding program have health clearances from Board Certified Specialists (Veterinary Cardiologists and Ophthalmologists). The results of these tests are filed with the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals Organization), a viewable database for records of health testing on purebred dogs.
As you browse our website, please click on our “Info & Links” button and read the AKC Breed Standard, health issues of Cavaliers, and links to suggestions on raising, grooming, and possibly showing your Cavalier. Please feel free to email us if you have questions about Cavaliers. If you are looking for a Cavalier of your own, check out our “Pups” page. We screen all potential owners very carefully and if we do not have puppies, we are happy to connect you with other top reputable Cavalier breeders.
We hope you enjoy your visit and please come back to see us!
